Gallbladder Flush!

Let’s face it. Just about everyone has Gallstones. Gallstones are found in the liver, gallbladder and connecting ducts. There can be thousands of stones that accumulate in the liver that never show up on a basic blood test. I learned about the Liver/Gallbladder Flush about 10 years ago. I met many people at the time that would show up at a local health group exhibiting their gallstones for all to see. Big stones, little stones, some are yellow green or emerald green, some are metallic looking, tan or brown in color. EEKK!

What are they made out of? Answer: Gallstones are mostly made out of cholesterol as the main ingredient (95%), bile and calcium salts. Their size resemble pebbles, peas, lentils, pinheads, or as big as a walnut! Sometimes, they are stuck together. Could have 20 come out all at once. Freaky! I realized that I had to try this! I eat raw food so I’m in over my head anyway. No turning back now. Indeed, I’m on a cleansing mission to cleanse myself!

How do they come out? Answer: Anus.

Does it hurt? Answer: No, but you may feel a little queasy when doing the actual gallbladder flush. Got a barf bag?

How do I do this? Answer: Well, I teach a detailed workshop in NYC http://www.DonnaPerrone.com on how to do a gallbladder flush and there is no way that I can explain this in the detail needed in a blog. Sign up to my email list and you’d find out when I next class is. I recommend purchasing this book, ‘The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush’ by Andreas Moritz. This book outlines how to do the flush. However, there are two methods on how to conduct a gallbladder flush. The one outlined in Moritz’s book is a 6-Day Preparation and a Gallbladder Flush that consists of drinking 4 ounces of olive oil. That’s right, you heard me. I said 4 ounces of olive oil! I have Italian blood in my veins, but this is taking it a little too far! The other approach, which Dr. Hulda Clark made popular, is a 4-Day Preparation and drinking 8 ounces of olive oil. Please, hold on and don’t faint! I’ll go get the smelling salts immediately!

Okay, why would anyone do this? Have we all gone mad? No! Many common and serious health problems occur due to a fatty liver. Liver congestion and stagnation can contribute to diseases such as heart disease, prostate disease, hormonal imbalances, skin disorders, constipation and digestive issues, excessive weight or wasting, dark color under the eyes, digestive problems, asthma, cancer, kidney diseases, MS, insomnia, joint issues, puffy eyes, hepatitis, and many more.

The body is a whole entity. When one part is not functioning optimally then this affects other bodily functions. The liver is extraordinarily resilient and can return to normal function when given the right circumstance. Gallstones can inhibit liver performance and can affect the growth and functioning of every cell in the body. Any malfunction, deficiency or abnormal growth pattern of a cell is largely due to a poor liver performance. The speedy delivery of oxygen or nutrients to the cells is diminished. Cancerous tumors are in part, a result of obstruction of blood vessels, connective tissues, and lymphatic ducts that prevent cells from receiving proper oxygen and nutrients.

By doing a gallbladder flush you take steps to restore your liver and improve your health. By decongesting the liver and gallbladder the body’s 60-100 trillion cells will breathe more oxygen, receive sufficient amounts of nutrients, eliminate metabolic waste products, and maintain perfect communication links with nervous system, endocrine system, and every part of the body.

How do I know if I have gallstones? Answer: Liver congestion and stagnation can reflect in the skin. Having skin blemishes, discoloration, dryness, oiliness, wrinkles, or lines. Marks on the skin such as black spots, small or large brown patches usually found on the face, hands, forearms and on the back of the shoulder. Also, any vertical lines found between eyebrows and if skin color under the eyes is yellowish or a dark color. Ever see an angry person with intense vertical lines between the eyes? Oh, Scary!

What causes gallstones? Answer: Overeating, (been there, done that), eating between meals, (got me again), eating heavy meals in the evening, eating excessive amounts of protein, dehydration, rapid weight loss, low fat diets, pharmaceutical drugs, and emotional stress.

Is there any adverse risk to doing this? Answer: There is a risk taken when crossing the street in NYC. Yes, it is possible, but an extremely rare occurrence that gallstones may get lodged on their way through the ducts that create a blockage that may cause an attack. I would assume that if this were to happen that your gallbladder’s days were numbered anyway. Why not cleanse the liver and get those guppies out as soon as possible!

What if someone doesn’t have a gallbladder? Answer: Yes, you can still do this flush according to Andreas Moritz.

There is some controversy on whether what is passed are really and truly gallstones. A client of mine did have his stones tested and received an inconclusive result. In my opinion, I feel that there are gallstones that are passed and that there is also oil that is released. The consumption of this quantity of oil demands a huge amount of bile to be released and this response creates a great cleansing for the liver and gallbladder.

Do I have to fast to do the flush? Answer: No, please eat extra healthy and clean your colon!

How many flushes must I do? Answer: Usually 10-12 and then 1 every other year for maintenance. I’ve done this 6 times and feel I have gotten most of them out.

Donna’s Personal Suggestion List: Please drink 32 ounces of apple juice or take Malic Acid, Hold your nose and breath when you sip the oil and exhale only when you sip some lemon juice, use a straw to drink the olive oil, lay on your right side afterwards, clean your colon using a colonic the day before or the morning on the actual day of the flush, best to do a second colonic the day after you pass the gallstones, do not drink liquids after you drink the oil until the next day, (the belching is hell), stay home the day you pass stones, (passing gallstones in a public bathroom is a Big No No!), lay on your side if nothing is coming out, and do the gallbladder flush in the evening rather then the afternoon.

If doing this flush is not for you, or you have been unsuccessful doing the flush consider taking Systemic Enzymes. These enzymes are taken away from food and support all the body’s metabolic processes. You will need a tremendous amount of enzymes to autolysis gallstones. I get mine from my raw food mentor, Dr. Fred Bisci. http://www.fredbisci4health.com

You can expect a disease free life, improved digestion, more energy and vitality, improved emotional health, a younger body, a clearer mind, and a better life from doing this flush.

I make no prescriptions or diagnosis. It is advised that you consult with a licensed health care professional when considering doing this cleanse. You take full legal responsibility when making any decisions regarding your health care.

Donna's Recent Juice Fasting Tale

Brr.. It’s cold outside in frigid NYC! I am not worried about global warming at the moment. Shelf that one. So, why is a Vata gal like me doing on a juice fast? No, I am not crazy! I have been in hibernation mode lately and feel it’s a great time to fast, as I am not missing out on very much happening outside. My East Village apartment gets plenty of heat and my holistic health office ‘Gravity East Village’ is a hop skip and a jump away on East 5th Street. So, I just finished a juice fast of 5 days consuming only 96 ounces of vegetable juice a day filled with lots of green leafy veggies. On Day 6 of my fast I drank some blended vegetable soups that tasted like gazpacho! Yumm!

This fast was quite easy to conduct. I was very focused at the task at hand and made at least half the juice myself each day and bought the rest ready made at my local juice joint ‘Liquidteria.’ I made the juice with an electric juicer and while making juice I put a measuring cup underneath to catch the juice and used a mesh strainer on top to catch the pulp. I recommend straining the juice, as it will make the juice fast a more pure and true fast. I drink lots of water in between juices and allow for a little herbal tea. On a cold day fasting can feel more intense as one may feel more chilled and drinking herbal tea hits the spot. My favorite is peppermint or lemon/ginger. I consume almost all green juice, but add a little carrot or apple to make the juice more calorie dense. This makes the juice less cooling to the body, and baby it’s cold outside! Those people with cancer or any fungal issues should refrain from consuming any carrots or fruits. I create a variety of tastes. Drinking the same juice day after day can get rather boring. Pooh Pooh.. Juice must taste yummy and let’s have fun fasting if we can! Yes, indeed! Sometimes, I add lemon or cilantro and the next juice some fennel or pineapple. Don’t they say variety creates the spice in life? Got some ginger? I drink 32 ounces in the morning, 32 ounces in the afternoon and 32 ounces in the evening. Some people will need more or less then that. I suggest making at least 75 ounces of juice a day. When one feels weak or lethargic you can bet that you either need more juice or a colonic or both!

During the fast when I experienced hunger I reached for a juice or water and felt fine. My mind was so sharp and focused. I was able to rebound on my mini trampoline, and practice yoga at home. I used our infrared sauna at the office and that was such a therapeutic experience. There’s nothing better then a sauna while fasting on a cold day. Awesome! My energy was excellent and awoke each morning before the alarm!

Day 5 of the fast was by far the hardest as it turned out to be a stressful day at the colonic office. It is best to fast when things are not too hectic or stressful, but life just seems to happen sometimes and throws you a challenge now and then. I always tell people to have an idea of how long you’d like to fast, but there’s no competition while fasting and the last thing to do is to feel irritable on a fast. When it isn’t working anymore for you it’s time to stop. So, I came off it on Day 6 by drinking vegetable soups and continued this way into Day 7. This is a way to extend the fast longer and a great way to break a fast. Fasting in the winter requires that the body needs more calories to keep itself warm and hunger will come on more intensely now. I lost 4 pounds in 6 days most people lose on average of one pound per day. Overweight people will lose more, and usually most people will lose more weight at the beginning of a fast and less as time goes by.

Of course, having colonics are part of the protocol. I gave myself a colonic about midway of the fast (do you believe it I can give myself a treatment?) and it helped me to feel better. My elimination was quite good throughout the fast. I often eliminated more then once a day. Many people do not elimination at all while fasting. Toxins are released from the cellular body as well as gases and find various avenues out of the body. Skin, lungs and the bowel are most popular departure routes. Colon Hydro-therapy is a must for anyone conducting a fast that is truly successful. Many people begin to feel blah on Day 3 or 4 and a colonic can help one to feel better and to remain inspired to continue. For those who have a poor elimination and feeling a little full from Day 1, then it is best to cleanse the bowel before the fast to have a good start. When the colon cannot keep up with the need to eliminate, these toxins can be reabsorbed through the bowel wall and this will defeat the purpose of the fast. Better to leave those toxins alone tucked away in the tissue rather than to awaken the beast and then it never makes its way out!

The vitality that is found in the raw fruits and vegetables is extraordinary. This energy shakes the toxins loose and detoxification begins its process. A successful fast is one that means that the toxins actually exit the body.

When we refrain from eating heavier more concentrated foods during a fast the body gains nerve energy and can use this energy to start cleansing and repairing the body. It takes more energy to digest food then to exercise, so the body uses this energy to allow for a deep cleansing of the tissue to occur. The juice has a wonderful way of loosening old cemented food and hardened mucus residing in the intestinal tract. Gotta empty that wastebasket! You betcha!

I experienced on this recent fast an elimination where some of my poop was floating and surrounded by mucus. Cool! My liver is cleansing! It doesn’t take much for this ‘Poop Master’ to get excited. You should see me at the office. I am your best cheerleader in the colonic room!

I broke my fast with a blended soup that I made in my good old Vitamix. I combined tomato, bell pepper, lime juice, cilantro, garlic powder, ground black pepper, celtic salt, flax/borage oil (just a teaspoon) and some coconut water. It was so satisfying! Then, later on since I cleaned my bowel I ate some grapefruits and then more blended soups and vegetable juice. On Day 7, I drank more vegetable juice, a green fruit smoothie and finished off with a salad. I had a second colonic after completing my fast, and it was better then the first one. Outstanding releases that rocked the tube! Mission accomplished. My fast is a success. I feel fantastic!

My Tribute to Eleanor Tauber

This month’s blog is a tribute to my dear departed friend, Eleanor Tauber. I met Eleanor, also know as ET in 1995 through the raw foods group that I lead today when under another name. Eleanor was a long time vegetarian, who struggled with weight and respiratory problems for over 40 years. She was searching for a way to heal herself naturally and stumbled onto the group through a friend’s introduction. Since ET was an actress, she was very energetic, strong minded and had plenty of spunk. ET took to raw food like a magnet. She grasped the concepts that made perfect sense to her and upped her veggie diet to 100% raw in no time. The pounds shed off her like a peacock mulching its feathers. Transition? In those days transition should have been emphasized more. At that time, the group (before I managed things) was more of a fruitarian type of group. Have you heard of Natural Hygiene? Well, the Hygienists were not that big on juicing, blending, eating lots of greens and veggies, no oils, no super foods, no cleansing modalities such as colonics, herbs, supplements or therapies. They recommended water fasting as the cure to all health problems and promoted a high fruit diet. If you want to eat 15 bananas a day go for it! I started my raw food regime with this approach back in 1989, and although it was an improvement over my Standard American Diet early on, it certainly was not working for me later on. Another story, another time.

So, getting back to Eleanor’s story. Well, she had problems with breathing. Yes, asthma was part of it, but believe it or not, the woman could not breathe through her nose! Can you imagine not being able to ever breathe through your nose for 40 years? It was as if there was cement stuck in there! The poor woman!

Eleanor was able to improve her breathing after changing her diet, and I can justify that she no longer suffered from asthma attacks any longer. However, Eleanor really wanted to heal her nose issue. When she went to a doctor and they would look at her nose they’d only gasp. No herbs, Acupuncture, Ayurvedic or any procedure could help her.

She decided to fast. The Hygienists recommend to water fast. And she did. She found a woman in PA who supervised water fasts. This Supervisor was trained by T.C. Fry, a legend in the Natural Hygiene world, to acquire her experience in supervising water fasts. ET stayed with her and fasted on only water for 15 whole days. Much of the time she stayed in bed and slept often. Later on in the fast she experienced strong shooting pains in her legs that she described as a constant spasm-like sensation. So, having been supervised was rather important to help and secure ET through a challenging detoxification process. She ended the fast and broke it by eating a strawberry. Colonics cannot be administered during a Water Fast, and the Hygienists don’t like them anyway. Eleanor’s first bites of fruit tasted foul to her, and not sweet at all. Why? Because her bowel was full of waste and toxins and the water fast really brought on a huge cleansing response. The sludge had no way to come out. The fasting supervisor was smart enough to administer a colema board / high colonic to ET. Once finished, ET tasted the fruit again and this time was as sweet as can be.

So, you would think that the fasting raw food supervisor might recommend colonics as part of ET’s protocol to her lifestyle change and transition to a 100% raw foods diet. No, she did not! So, ET went home and stuck closely to her raw food lifestyle and a short time later developed what is known as a “Detox” or “Healing Crisis.” This detox consisted of a cough that lasted almost two months time. In those days, everything that was a cleansing response was called a “Detox.” Well, my mentor, colonic guru Gil Jacobs would certainly poo-poo that one! When it is a ‘Detox’ it would mean that the poisons and toxins can actually exit the body and any symptoms presented would come and then go. You feel better after a short time and life is good again. Two months of a cough indicates that the toxins are unable to leave the body on it’s own and surely a toxic colon must be holding up a true healing from occurring. Empty the colon and the rest of the body gains energy, organs do not become overworked and the body can heal.

So, I get a phone call from ET at 3 am. I hear a frightened voice on the other end of the line expressing that her breathing felt very restrictive. I could hear the wheezing sound coming from her lungs. Oh my God, the woman can’t breathe through her nose and now the lungs are struggling for breath. I declared to ET, ”Get on the rebounder!” (A mini Trampoline) “ You can breathe!!!” She did and her panic attack fell away as she found her breath. I had just discovered colonics that year and had already been experiencing the benefits as a client, and paid for ET’s first Colon Hydro-therapy Session. I sent her to see Gil Jacobs. Within a few short days Eleanor was feeling better again. The beast had finally left the body and the body healed itself. Enough said.

Eleanor made the connection and continued with Colon Hydro-therapy for about 11 years on a regular basis. She never experienced a detox like that again. Unfortunately, Eleanor felt that she could not continue with eating 100% on raw foods after this experience. At the age of 59 years old, for ET to start a diet at 100% raw, one must consider the many years of medications she has taken and still reside in her body. Eleanor felt she had to have a little cooked food to slow the cleansing response down. I agreed and supported that decision. Also, ET had successfully lost 100 pounds after 1 ½ years on a all raw diet at this point and looked great.

Eleanor ate much of her diet raw, but slowly allowed some of the old foods that were not so pure back into her consumption. I wasn’t quite sure what she was eating, but I knew she ate salad, fruit and drank a vegetable juice everyday. However, I watched the weight slowly come back on.

I remember when ET was 100% raw I often would see her eyes tearing uncontrollably. She always smelled a little like Elmer’s Glue. It seemed to me like she was one big mucus ball! She feared that another cleanse could kill her. If the mucus unleashed she felt like it could suffocate her. Enough said! So, in all these years she did consider a go at another cleanse, like a juice fast, but was too frightened to take that step.

Last September, ET’s body turned a shade of bright yellow. I got a call from her as I was driving to Sedona, traveling to the Raw Spirit Festival and the prognosis turned out to be pancreatic cancer. My first thought went to the fact that ET used her nose spray everyday for so many years. She handled the news about her illness with courage and grace. My personal friendship with her could take up an entire length of a blog to describe, but she was a true friend to me. She was an incredible support to me during hard times, and we shared many good times also. Even with our wide age difference, ET had a major impact on my life. She was more than a friend. She was like family to me.

I advised her to consult with Dr. Fred Bisci, a veteran raw food Clinical Nutritionist who had a brother that had lived 18 years with pancreatic cancer. He died only because he went off his raw food program when going through a deeply difficult emotional time. Eleanor was hopeful that she could still live for some time. She booked a reservation to go to Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, FL for the end of December, but never made it.

The amazing thing that happened while ET was working with Dr. Bisci is that while following his program her nose cleared! It cleared and opened up consistently for the first time in over forty years. ET was following a precise raw foods program outlined for her particular problem, she took Dr. Bisci’s Systemic and Digestive Enzymes, Pro-Biotics, and had several Colonics a week among other things.

Eleanor passed away on December 20th, at the age of 71 years old. I wish Eleanor could have worked on a deep cleansing to heal herself years ago, yet I admire her efforts and discipline to live as healthy a life as she could. I am proud of her. The lesson for me as a Colon Therapist is to remember the importance of periodic cleansing and that one part of the lifestyle be it food, exercise etc. is only one part of the whole. Good health encompasses many things including a healthy outlook on life and positive thinking. Farewell, my dear ET you will always be part of me forever.

Stay Healthy During the Holiday Season!

Ahh.. The holidays.. Indeed, a busy time of year.. For many people there are gifts to make or purchase, parties to go to, family gatherings to attend, and lots of planning to do. I’ve been affected by stress already. Of course, I admit I put these stresses onto myself. I want to find just the right gift at an affordable price, make dozens of raw food sweet treats to give away, have friends over on New Year’s Eve, and while shopping for others I tend to self indulge myself beyond my means.

Then, there’s a deeper experience that can happen. A time to reflect on the past year and what has been accomplished and valued or what is lacking and challenging in our lives. Yes, I’ve heard it all before. That dear awful slogan, ‘It’s the Best Day Ever!” That’s fine and should be kept in mind, but the reality of the moment my not feel quite so uplifting depending on what’s happening. Let’s be Real!

So, while there is so much to be grateful for and many reasons to celebrate our blessed lives, there may be some of us who feel a little less fortunate or gloomy at this time of the year. You may be doing pretty well with your healthy diet and exercise all year, and then it may be easy to become distracted or thrown off right now. For some reason parties and celebrations tend to be an excuse for individuals to destroy themselves with unhealthy, clogging foods, alcohol and binging. When you really think about it it’s rather bizarre. A celebration should be when we gather and exhibit our very best part of ourselves with great love and caring in a supportive environment of loved ones. Right?

So, whether you feel alone, or very social it is important to keep as clear a head as possible of how well you are taking care of yourself. If you are feeling a little stressed or have the holiday blues then by all means drag yourself out of the house and get connected to other people. The best thing to do is the volunteer with an organization you believe in. Feeling useful and connected in the world is the best prescription to feeling really good about your self. Take it from me I am a volunteer queen! Get connected spiritually and fill that inner void with self -love. Call it God, Creator, Mother Earth, Divine Energy etc. Whatever, you want to call that life force inside you is the foundation for inner peace and love in your life. I am no expert on spirituality, but I do know that it has had a tremendous force in my life. True healing of the body often times will not manifest unless one is centered spiritually.

Perhaps, you are a happy soul. Holiday time means party down! How well do you fair in social circles on your new raw foods diet? If you are still new and transitioning the ground may become shaky right now. You have been planting the seeds of health and springtime is several months away with a long cold winter ahead. What is one to do when cravings occur? This is definitely a big topic and here are a few suggestions.

Plan ahead. If you are visiting family or going to a party eat before you go, bring food with you, call ahead and ask what kind of food will be served, bring a dish that will be big enough for you to eat and share with others.
Say as little as possible about your diet. Be an example of a healthy person and that will speak for itself. If you talk in detail about your diet you will welcome the possibility of a debate, others may feel uncomfortable and threatened, and you will feel like a freak.

If your host feels sorry for you because you don’t want to eat/drink toxic substances, say “ I love salad!” or “I feel so good eating this way and it’s worth it!” Your enthusiasm will shine and no one can ever tell you how you feel. If others are insulted that you are not eating their dead animals and you have explained that it may make you sick to eat that then they are not being considerate to you. When you are a guest in someone’s home they should be concerned that you are comfortable and happy. Right? Answer: make sure you bring your own chow.

Cravings. A beast. The definition of a craving is ‘to long for’ or ‘a desire.’
Temptation will be everywhere and whether happy or gloomy anyone can find cause to loose his or her head.

Ready for the answer?
Stay conscious and present in the moment. It really is your choice. The question is if the payoff of giving into a craving is really worth it. So, when I have a craving I tune in. What is it that I really want? Is it the taste? Do I want sweet, salty, crunchy, chewy, spicy, or creamy? Or is it that a gal can’t resist free food? How about the numbing out experience on starch overload? When we overeat we get so sedated from the chemical reactions in our body it causes a stimulating effect. Foods such as meat, dairy, wheat, sugar all have opiate like substances that induce pleasure sensations in the body and can cause dependency. That means food addiction. So, if you reach for the bread or the pastries your healthy diet may go down the drain. Caput! Chances are you will be dreaming about when you can eat those cupcakes again. If you think you can get away with eating just one think again. Remember how you felt last time you gave in. Fool!

Solution. Try having some great substitutes on hand. Raw food desserts are delicious. Break open those cookbooks and get the dehydrator on. Mine is on right now!

Negotiate. I do this all the time and I have been eating raw food in great abundance for almost 20 years now. So, you want a potato chip. A good tactic is to ask yourself if you can avoid having it today, and make a deal with yourself if you want it tomorrow that you will consider it. Usually, the craving is long forgotten. However, if the next day you are still thinking about that dam potato chip that you missed eating at the party you went to consider finding a healthier substitute. How about dehydrated crackers or air popped popcorn? If you work with this you may be able to let it go.

That is the true question. Can you let it go? Are you ready? As long as you feel it is okay to still eat that food that you know is toxic it will continue to be a temptation and have a hold of you. I haven’t eaten pizza in 20 years, and I can watch someone eat it and it doesn’t do a thing for me. I used to love pizza.

Of course, this blog would not be complete without mentioning the good old colonic. Often, when one is holding old food in the body this will interfere with good digestion and assimilation. Cleansing the colon will help to heal food cravings and improve digestion. Any illustration of a human colon will reveal a thread running along it also known as the nervous system. A full toxic colon will aggravate the nervous system and can create irritability, anxiety, mood swings and those crazy food cravings. So, no better time then now to wipe the slate clean and have a colonic!

Finally, tuning in also means looking deeper inside yourself to see what your craving is really about emotionally. Perhaps, this holiday season you don’t have a mate, or it feels stressful to visit family, you may be grieving a loss in your life, or struggling financially. We all have dilemmas that we contemplate on a daily basis. Instead of feeding the problem with a fast fix of food indulgences why not think of something else. Feed your soul with a walk in the park, call a long missed friend, take a hot bath with essential oils, schedule a massage or sauna at Gravity East Village, (my office) or put on your favorite music and sing and dance. I do!

Gratitude is the best medicine on earth. Even if you can only be grateful for each breath you take. Your life is a treasured gift to cherish during the holiday season.

Happy Holidays!

Donna

What is Cleansing?

Most people have consumed a Standard American Diet at some point in their lives, and have been exposed to pollution, environmental toxins, medications and drugs, emotional stress, and negative emotions which can create an over-acid and deficient in electrolytes condition in the body. This scenario forces the body to create massive amounts of mucus as protection against the acids, especially in the intestines. Periodic cleansing methods with the use of raw foods, vegetable juices, and colonics can be very helpful to aid the body of unwanted debris. There are other methods of removing old debris from the body such as gallbladder flushes, herbs, Chinese medicine, Ayurvedic, skin brushing, rebound exercise, rest, infra-red sauna, psyllium and bentonite cleanse, oxygen therapy, energy healing and therapeutic massage. When utilizing effective cleansing methods, old toxic substances that reside in fat cells, deep tissue, organs, and every cell in the body, can loosen, break up and be released.

Fasting can be considered a house cleaning measure, or a physiological vacation the body takes because the body is able to finally ‘Rest’. The body gains nerve energy and is able to apply this energy to repairing, restoring and replenishing the body. When the Faster/Juice Feaster consumes vegetable juices or blended vegetable smoothies only, the body gains energy that would have otherwise been used to digest more concentrated foods, and applies that energy to healing the body. It is an opportunity to allow the body to cleanse and heal on a deeper level.

Raw foods/vegetable juices hold an ionic charge. Our planet holds a ‘negative’ ionic charge, our bodies hold a negative ionic charge, and raw foods/vegetable juices the same. The consumption of raw food will move through the body cleanly leaving very little residue behind. The unhealthy foods people eat, pollution, drugs, negative emotions, are held in the cellular body because they hold a ‘positive’ charge. This creates a ‘magnet’ effect as a positive attracts a negative. These toxic substances ‘stick’ and can be held in the body for many years. Truly, the cleansing response occurs when we flood the body system with negatively charged juices and raw foods to create an opportunity for the cells to ‘let go’ of this old obstruction clogging the cellular body.

A successful cleanse occurs effectively when obstructing matter can exit the body. Often, once this old debris is released from the cells, and moves through the blood and lymph, it will eventually land up in the colon. However, an effective cleanse means emptying the ‘waste basket’ of the body. Proper colon cleansing is completed through the use of colon hydrotherapy. Other less effective means can be used such as: enemas, colema board, and laxatives.

Some common side effects of fasting include: Heightened alertness, sharper senses, sensitivity to sound, spiritual atonement, headaches, sensitivity to cold, less bowel, darker urine, weakness, less or more need for sleep, hunger pangs, rashes, cold sores, blemishes, coated tongue, nausea, strong body odor and breath.

When the Faster experiences weakness, bloating, constipation, or skin related problems; colonics may be needed. A colonic can help the Faster to feel renewed, and able to continue on a fast. It is best to plan in advance, and schedule colonic appointments prior to the fast to avoid any unpleasant detoxification symptoms. Colonics help to remove toxins and morbid debris in the colon and supports the Faster to have an easy, smooth, safe experience. How long a fast can be conducted varies based on age, health history, current health, and weight. The colon hydrotherapist will determine how often the Faster will need colonics during the course of the cleanse.

Colonics help prevent a reabsorbing of waste through the bowel wall. When practicing a highly cleansing diet such as a raw foods diet or if on a juice fast it will defeat the purpose of the cleanse if proper elimination is not a part of the program. If a raw foods diet is not working for you and the detoxification symptoms ensue for what seems like forever, then the missing link may be colon hydrotherapy.

Gravity colonics generate a simultaneous in-flow and out-flow of water, facilitating an effective and through cleansing of the colon while providing a comfortable session for the client. Colon hydrotherapy is essential for alleviating gas, bloating, acne, headaches, sluggishness, constipation, dull complexion, and weight issues among others.

Colonics benefit the body by giving the immune system a boost, providing more oxygen flow to the blood stream, eliminates noxious gases and mucoid matter from the colon, strengthens peristalsis, cleanses the blood and lymph. The body is a whole entity and when cleansing the colon the whole body will benefit.

Many people will use enemas in place of Colon Hydrotherapy. Colonics and enemas will not weaken the colon. They actually have a strengthening effect and can be used often. Enemas are not nearly as through as a colonic. They are best used in addition to colonics. An enema uses a bag, similar to a hot water bottle, and is filled with purified water. It is hung several feet above the body. There is a hose attached to the bag with a clip on it to control the flow of water. The adaptor is inserted into the rectum and the water is allowed in. Once the person feels an urge to release and cannot hold the water any longer then the person releases in the toilet. The water can reach into the transverse colon found at the mid-section above the belly button, but only reaches about half the distance of the body’s 5 ft of colon. We have all heard of the term ’backed up’, and that is an accurate description of the colon’s predicament for many people. So, to effectively cleanse the colon means emptying the ascending colon, which is the deepest part of the colon.

There are various methods of colon hydrotherapy. Gravity Method is best, but there are Machine Method colonics as well. To find a therapist near you do a web search, check local wellness newspapers, or call the Woods Gravity School for a referral-407 933 0009. Your Colon Therapist will determine if a colonic is right for you.
